My Vixens Journey

I was a bit of a late comer to the sport, I started netball in grade 5 in my primary school team thanks to an invitation from one of my best friends. Instantly I fell in love with the game and knew this was the sport for me. Growing up playing netball I tried all positions but GA was my favourite. It wasn’t until I was about 17 that I moved more into the midcourt playing WA and C.

I followed the Netball Victoria pathway representing Victoria for the first time as a 12 year old, in a schoolgirls team. I went on to represent Victoria in under 17s, 19s and 21s and in 2014 I had my first whirlwind introduction to elite netball. I had been invited to train with the Melbourne Vixens for their preseason program in 2014. I was offered my first playing opportunity due to a pregnancy announcement by one of the Vixen’s midcourters.

Melbourne Vixens and Netball Victoria have given me the best experiences and opportunities. I never thought that I would be playing at such a great club for so long. Bianca Chatfield, Captain of the Vixens in my debut year and now one of my closest friends, was that person that showed me as a young kid what its like to play netball at this level, learn to take every opportunity you get and enjoy the ride along the way.

My Vixens journey so far has been better than I could have ever imagined. As a young girl playing netball you can only dream of one day being on the biggest stage playing the game that you love. I’m very lucky with the amazing support from my family and closest friends who have helped me to continue to pursue  my sporting dream.

Go Vixens!
